Last week Amazon.com decided to stop hosting Wikileaks.
In retaliation Anonymus attacked Amazon.com
Due to the fact that Amazon.com had upgraded its server to handle the rush of Christmas shoppers, and Anons lack of support, Anons DDoS attack was thwarted.
Anons revenge attacks, dubbed "Operation Payback" (as tradtion demands) have been against sites that have shunned Wikileaks, including Paypal (which he failed to crash) and Mastercard.com , which it succesfully crashed.
Now to put it all into perspective is a comment debate from CNN.com

I don't understand why Americans are attacking American companies that stopped doing business with a foreigner who jeopordized American national security. But maybe I'm missing something. There is a time for protest, but this isn't it. How about hackers attack the Muslim pseudo-charities that finance terrorism? How about hackers attack Chinese servers to open up the internet there and bring access to information to more than a billion people? Just throwing some ideas out there.

@Kieth Anderson, yes you are definitely missing something. They aren't attacking American companies. that are stopping business with a foreigner that jeopardized national security. First off, Assange hasn't jeopardized our nations security in the slightest. We are as completely open to attack as we have always been. Don't be disillusion, and think for one second that we are in anyway more or less secure because someone told the world what total d*&^heads we are and how many dirty things we say and do to manipulate the world to how we think it should be. Second, the hackers aren't attacking those companies for cutting off some guy. they are attacking the companies for caving to they tyrannical oppressive forces of the government to violate a company/individuals rights to free speech and free trade. The hackers are fighting a cyber war against those people, so that you will maintain the right to say what you want without fear of being thrown under some super secret jail never to be heard from again. Finally, yes there are lots of things the hackers could be focusing their efforts on. And feel free to download and begin your own DDoS attacks wherever you feel they will do the most good. That is what we need. Break down the cyber walls of secrecy and disinformation clouding the minds of the masses, be they in China, the US or elsewhere. Hack the planet. - Information wants to be free.
