Warhammer 40,000

A 40k thread!

For everyone that posts in this thread, please post you Army(ies) that you play and how long you've been playing, and how good you think you are lol.

Well , I havent started yet.

As In , I haven't even bought the anything.
Yet.
Im playing around with the notion of getting a Chaos Army , or a normal Space Marine army....heck I might even get an Ork army....

Also : can the Space Marines have Imperial Guardsmen units in their Army , or am I the only one whos thought about adding them in?

Got any advice on starting and choosing an army?

I like having heavy units that can take a lot of damage.
I also like units that are moderately good at multiple roles.
And I like to have a range advantage when it comes to ranged combat.

The army doesnt need to have all of these , they are just guidelines.

You can do whatever you want in Warhammer: 40K. You can have Nids with Marines vs. Ork with Eldar if you want, it all depends on the kind of Army you want. The Necrons are noobish in my opinion cuz they hit hard and are hard to hit lol. Tyranids are masters at close combat. Space marines are generic. Then theres the SM branches like chaos, space wolves, the sisterhood, all those guys. Imperial are their own thing, but they are the next army i'm starting if i can.

I think you'd be better suited for either Space Marines or possibly the Eldar. Tao are very effective at Range combat and have decent vehicles, but suck in close combat for the most part. The Imperials have the most powerful tank in the 40K game, but you need huge army (2K points at least) to use it, and its very expensive. Space marines are a good begginner army. Or, what me and my bro did, we bought the starter kit. It comes with 2 armies (the current one is Space Marines and Orks), rule book, dice, and everything else you need to play a game and get started. I would suggest you get one of these, they run at around $60 or 60 Euro. It's worth it because that way you have the start of 2 armies, you can play with someone else, and you have the basics of everything you'll need to play. Depending on where you live I can see about helpin you, if you're up to it that is. This is not a predator stalking or pervert hook up, and i don't expect you to even be in my area, let alone be able to get together for lessons lol. But if you are interested let me know in a message so your stuff isn't all over the thread =D

Also, I think I'll look up what a normal sized army is for a starter thingy in 40K and try to set something up. Can it only be one race?

Im thinking Tao as my serious army (the Kroot seem halfway decent in close combat) , but to get me started Il probably get the starter kit as you suggested.

Too poor, plus why pay if you can look up a normal starter and maek one? Other than it doesn't look as nice.

If you MUST know, zedword means Zombie (shaun of the dead lol). and okay, i will post there. i was going to but didn't see a spot to post. And for a starter army, it is much MUCH easier to do one race, because each race has different rules, and if you mix say Tao and Space Marines, it'd be difficult for a beginner to enjoy the game while they're flipping through 2 seperate codexes trying to find out what to do.

Yeah, you should have started a new thread for your info , but its no big deal. VideoG2 did the same thing and its not a problem.

Yeah, weve got a couple of RPs going on here , for instance Im starting a Fallout one (but im waiting for Typhos Final Fantasy RP (that Im part of ) to get further along before I begin it).
And weve got few people who are interested in making a Steampunk RP too!

oh, i apologize i thought it was a game/movie or something, not a genre lol, my bad.

I saw this awesome Steampunk shirt downtown, it was all art deco like bioshock and had a picture of a blimp, saying "AIRSHIPS: THE MODERN WAY TO TRAVEL!" Since the place makes custom shirts, I would want to print out the logo from Infinite and put that on the back.

I want some kind of Steampunk top hat soooo BAAD!!
With golder cogs revolving in perpetual motion as I walk through the streets while all the eyes on mainstreet stare on at me in my awesomeness.

Oh , also a 40k MMO is coming out sometime this year (IDK when) , and it looks pretty promising from the screen shots Ive seen.
